Which Kardashian-Jenner Are You?: Global Leaders Edition

We all love to hate them, but we can’t deny that the Kardashian-Jenner family has taken over entertainment in recent years. Even if you’re not a fan, they’re hard to avoid in the media. From sports to beauty to fashion, they have dominated across industries and built an empire of entertainment success. With so many family members (and a lot of “K” names) it’s hard to remember who’s who. The following are the most probable results if world leaders took the quiz, “Which Kardashian-Jenner Are You?”:

  • First off, there’s Kris Jenner, the matriarch of the family empire. Dubbed “momager,” her business is about supporting her children as their manager – she helps her kids run the show, and largely stays out of the spotlight otherwise. With regards to global leaders, UK Prime Minister Theresa May remains largely out of the spotlight in comparison to other counterparts like Donald Trump. The biggest issue she must tackle in her prime minister-ship is Brexit, and it has proved to be a complex and polarizing case. How the UK will leave the EU and its economic consequences still remain uncertain. Although the UK no longer possesses the hegemony it used to in the 18th-19th century, they still remain a significantly influential global power. pexels-photo-260024.jpegI would label the reputation of the UK as the “OG” leader in the realm of foreign relations, just as Kris Jenner is the “OG momager” – after all, there would be no Kardashian-Jenner empire if she didn’t give birth to all her children.
  • Next there’s Caitlyn Jenner (née Bruce Jenner) who is probably the “most Vladimir Putin” of the family. Controversial not because of her transition from male to female, but because of her support for Donald Trump who the rest of the family is openly against. It’s also ironic to see that Caitlyn Jenner is a transgender woman while POTUS announced a ban on transgender people to serve in the military. Like so, Vladimir Putin is controversial in many ways, and sometimes provocative in the way he executes foreign policy. There has been the annexation of Crimea, the anti-gay propaganda laws, the doping scandal in the 2014 Winter Olympics and winning the most recent election. Evidently, Putin is a whole load of controversy who remains significant but polarized from the rest of the international community. Caitlyn Jenner too has seemed to distance herself from the Kardashian family since her transition.
  • Kim Kardashian is probably the biggest name in the family, so you could probably guess that she would be the Donald Trump in the global political sphere. Her obsession with fame mirrors the current POTUS’ obsession with power. This one is pretty obvious, and there’s not much to elaborate here. Enough said.
  • One of the USA’s largest allies is Japan, so Kourtney is Japan’s Shinzo Abe to Kim’s Donald Trump. As Kim’s older sister, she doesn’t chase the spotlight but she knows how to stay relevant. Abe remains Trump’s closest ally in the Asia-Pacific region, with a delicate situation in North Korea and a complex relationship with China.Kourtney has also confided in Kim when she is having personal issues with others, just as Abe would definitely call up Trump to help meddle things in the Asian region if things ever got bad.pexels-photo-272760.jpeg
  • Being the goofy one that isn’t afraid to call her sister’s out on their nonsense, Khloe is a favourite amongst many fans as Canada’s Justin Trudeau is a favourite in the international community. His charm and youthful demeanor, coupled with his socially liberal discourse has gained him global popularity. Khloe Kardashian is often openly questioning her sister Kim’s controversial rise to fame, while maintaining a close and trusting relationship with her. Likewise, Trudeau’s liberal agenda contrasts that of Trump’s, yet they have continued consistent diplomatic relations with each other.
  • While Kendall Jenner has tried to make a name for herself in the fashion industry distinctive of her family name, Angela Merkel has made a name for herself as “the de facto leader of the EU”. One of the more significant ways she’s distinguished herself from other European leaders has been the way she handled immigration in 2015. When Europe was met with a massive influx of refugees from Syria that year, Merkel went on to open Germany’s border while other countries closed them. There was a lot of controversy, and she hasn’t been able to completely commit to her stance on migration since. However what’s certain is that she won’t let the attitudes of other European leaders influence her policies, similarly to how Kendall won’t let her family name determine her career.
  • Finally, we can’t talk about world leaders if we don’t include Xi Jiping, just like we can’t mention the Kardashian-Jenners without mentioning Kylie. Kylie is the one that’s made a name for herself through her beauty line, and as queen of social media. She even made it as the youngest celebrity Forbes 100 member, and her success has been explosive. Similarly, China’s economic growth in the last 10 years has been just as explosive. achievement-bar-business-chart-40140.jpegThe Chinese leader also recently passed a law to allow him to rule indefinitely. As some speculate a global power shift, from a longstanding US hegemony to one that is Chinese, Kylie Jenner seems to be the most promising of those to replace her sister Kim’s legacy.

If you don’t know much about the Kardashians, then I hope this helps you distinguish them. And if you aren’t too familiar with the global power dynamics, then I hope you remember which Kardashian is who the next time you see a political headline.
